This altar garniture belongs to the set of eight representing the Eight Buddhist Emblems. Compare with the present lot a very similar altar emblem set on an elaborate base, from the Mary C. Belin Trust, sold in our New York Rooms, 19 September 1996, lot 399; and another of similar design, illustrated in Zhongguo Meishu Quanji, vol. 10, pl. 328.
