QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)

Decorated with two scaly, five-clawed dragons racing around the rounded body amid fire and cloud-scrolls, one with its head turned backwards facing the other, the base encircled by crashing and swirling waves, the rim with with double-line borders, vividly painted in rich, cobalt-blue tones

Lot Essay

A Qianlong jardinière was sold in these Rooms, The Jarras Collection of Fine Ming and Qing Porcelain, 8 October 1990, lot 345; and another was included in the Exhibition of Qing Mark and Period Blue and White, Messrs Marchant and Son, 1984, illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 27.
