A LARGE FAMILLE ROSE 'PHEASANT' BOTTLE VASE, TIANQIUPING
QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)

The globular body finely enamelled with a pair of pheasants facing each other while standing on rockwork beside flowering pink and yellow peonies, magnolia, daisies and prunus branches, the reverse with a butterfly above two iron-red bats (losses to enamel repainted)

Lot Essay

A vase of this design was sold in these Rooms, 30 October 1995, lot 761.

Compare with a Yongzheng mark and period bowl finely enamelled with a closely related design of phoenix amidst multi-coloured peonies, illustrated by Wang-go Weng and Yang Boda, The Palace Museum: Peking, fig. 40.
