This settee is copied from the suite of mahogany and parcel-gilt seat furniture supplied by Benjamin Goodison for Longford Castle, Wiltshire (see R. Edwards and M. Jourdain, Georgian Cabinet-Makers, 1965, fig.45). A daybed copying the same suite was sold Christie's London, 7 July 1988, lot 59.
