A GEORGE II OIL-GILT MIRROR
Circa 1745, probably originally a picture frame
The later bevelled rectangular plate with husk-garland surround and hatched slip within bead-and-reel and guilloche-molded outer surround, the upper outset corners between a swan's neck crest centered by a shell, the volute-scrolled lower corners above a similarly carved base, with a Christie's catalogue entry The following are Sold by Order of the Trustees of/S.ELIOT LEWIS, ESQ./desceased, late of 7 Kensington Palace Garden, W.8 and inscribed in white chalk 208
