AN UNUSUAL YUEYAO FROG-MOLDED JAR
3RD/4TH CENTURY

The compressed lower body encircled by narrow grooves and applied on the shoulder with the head, legs and tail of a frog, with incised details and iron-brown spots on the frog's eyes as well as on the rim of the tall, cylindrical neck encircled by further grooves and set with a pair of loop handles, covered inside and out with a grayish-green glaze extensivley degraded to a buff color, the slightly concave base unglazed and burnt dark brick red in the firing
