A FINE SANCAI-GLAZED POTTERY TRIPOD JAR AND COVER
TANG DYNASTY

The well-potted, globular body raised on three monster-mask and paw supports, with a single fine line incised around the upper body and a band of three narrow grooves incised around the shoulder, all under an attractive splashed glaze of amber, green and cream color, the short neck and tripod supports glazed in amber, as is the interior, the stepped cover splash-glazed in a more controlled pattern radiating outward from the green-glazed knop finial
