The ovoid cover formed as a cintanmani, the sides pierced and incised with an allover pattern of foliate scroll below a raised dogtooth border encircling three small apertures and a pointed knop finial, the base with deep, tapering sides encircled by a crisply cut scallop border, both sections covered inside and out with a deep olive-brown glaze with some phosphatic splashes on the base, the flat foot unglazed and pierced with a central aperture
