QIANLONG INCISED FOUR-CHARACTER MARK ON THE BASE, 1750-1850
Of cylindrical shape, decorated in multi-colored enamels with stylized lotus and feathery scrolling within key-pattern borders above lotus lappets at the foot and ruyi-lappets and scrolling at the shoulder and neck, the cloisonné stopper with a bat amidst clouds (some pitting)

Lot Essay

A cloisonné enamel bottle of spade shape, using a similar range of colors and attributed to the Palace Workshops in Beijing, 1715-1760,
is illustrated by Hugh Moss, Victor Graham and Ka Bo Tsang, The Art of the Chinese Snuff Bottle, The J & J Collection, vol. II, New York, 1993, p. 443, no. 265. Although the design is also of stylized lotus on a turquoise ground, the treatment is somewhat looser. Another bottle, Hugh Moss, et al., ibid., p. 444, no. 266, dated 1770-1860, has a similar tight floral design
