A SMALL WELL-CARVED GRAYISH JADE ANIMAL-FORM WATER POT
17TH/18TH CENTURY
Carved as a crouching, full-bodied, mythical beast with head turned to the side and with a circular aperture in its back, the broad head carved in low relief with flattened features and on the back of the neck with a finely incised mane, with wings rising from the front haunches and with curled tufts of hair on the rear haunches and short tail, the claws curved under the paws, the opaque stone well polished and of finely mottled grayish tone with black veining and markings and some black staining (minor rim chips)
