A TWO-COLOR GRAY JADE DRAGON/CARP VASE
17TH/18TH CENTURY
Well carved using the two tones of the stone as two carp of different size leaping from waves and rocks, the larger fish and the base carved from the finely speckled dark gray area of the stone, as is the flaming pearl carved in high relief on one side of the the smaller fish which is carved from the pale grayish-white area of the stone, both fish partially hollowed; together with a small pale and dark gray jade vase group, carved as a hollowed rock formation to one side of a stream, on the other side a three-legged toad sits on an outcropping of rock while a dark gray stream of vapor enclosing a bat issues from its mouth (minor chips)
