YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE SQUARE AND OF THE PERIOD

The shallow dish with softly rounded sides rising to a slightly everted rim, covered on the exterior with a finely crackled lime-green glaze of even tone, the base and interior glazed white

Dishes of this size with the same mark are found with various glazes, although this lime green appears to be rare. A pink-glazed example in this sale, lot 250; a pair with a pale celadon glaze were included in the S Marchant & Son exhibition, Qing Mark and Period Monochromes and Two-Coloured Wares, London, 1992, Catalogue, pl. 15; a pair of dishes with a pale cobalt-blue glaze are in the Percival David Foundation Catalogue, Section 6, nos. B560 and B561; and a single pale celadon-glazed example from the Collection of Mrs. James Alsdorf was sold in these rooms June 3, 1993, lot 238
