SILVER INLAID EIGHT-CHARACTER MARK, DA MING CHENGHUA NIAN WAN JIA ZAO, 17TH/18TH CENTURY
Of compressed bombé form, decorated in gold inlay on the body with a pair of striding, winged, four-clawed dragons in mutual pursuit, each spewing vapor upon which rests a two-tiered pagoda, all amidst silver ruyi-form clouds above a band of turbulent waves encircling the lower body, the neck encircled by classic scroll and flanked by a pair of upright, curved, strap handles, with a band of key pattern on the flat rim and stylized taotie masks on the cabriole legs, the inscription on the base encircled by the babao, the bronze with an attractive golden-brown patina
