Estlin Carpenter, [London], 24 January 1864, 3 pp., 8vo, on black bordered mourning stationery, center fold mended, split across two horizontal folds touching a few words (but nothing missing), regarding the interpretation of a biblical phrase: "...It is true that the meaning you attach to the words 'thy Father shall reward thee' is that which they really ought to [have] been, and it is true, too, that this meaning comes out much more readily if one leaves out the word 'openly'..."
