Bankers (Washington, D.C.) check changed in violet ms. to National Metropolitan Bank, red on pale orange tint, red 'U.S. Grant' imprint above an eagle vignette, with autograph signature of U.S. Grant (18th President of the United States, a post-Presidential usage), usual cut cancel (not affecting the autograph), check margins trimmed closely removing most of the check's ornamental outer frame, otherwise very fine, Castenholz $1,000.00
