A TERRACOTTA BUST OF A BACCHANTE

Details
A TERRACOTTA BUST OF A BACCHANTE
FRENCH, 19TH CENTURY, AFTER CLODION

The bare-breasted nymph with grape vines and clusters woven through her hair, bearing the signature 'CLODION', mounted on a serpentine marble socle-10¼in. (26cm.) high overall

Despite the signature, the present bust is closer in style to the work of Clodion's pupil, Joseph-Claude Marin.
