The present composition can be dated to the early part of Odazzi's life under the influence of his teacher, Ciro Ferri, and can be compared with a Rest on the Flight into Egypt in a private collection, Genoa (see G. Sestieri, Repertorio Della Pittura Romana Del Seicento E Del Settecento, 1994, III, no. 831).
