The present composition is based on an engraving by Boëtius Adams Bolswert after a design by Abraham Bloemaert executed circa 1612-15 (see M. Roethlisberger, Abraham Bloemaert and his Sons, 1993, I, p. 185, no. 220; II, fig. 328).
