Charles Lemaire was a costume designer who began his career in the 1920s in vaudeville and designed some of the leading Broadway reviews including the Ziegfeld Follies. He was a costume designer for 20th Century Fox in the 1940s and 1950s, receiving seventeen Academy Award
nominations and winning three Oscars - for All About Eve in 1950, The Robe in 1951, and Love is a Many Splendored Thing in 1955.
