E. G. Papworth, born in 1832, was the son of the sculptor, Edgar George Papworth. He joined the Royal Academy Schools in 1848. His Startled Nymph, commissioned by J. Neeld, M.P., was lent to the Exhibition of Art Treasures of the United Kingdom, held at Manchester in 1857.
