WATERCOLOURS, DRAWINGS AND PAINTINGS FROM THE STUDIO OF EDWARD WALKER Edward Walker was born in Bradford on 17th January 1879. He was a gifted artist in all media and produced oil paintings, etchings, poster designs, black and white illustrations as well as landscapes in tempera and watercolour. He began his art training at Bradford College of Art where he studied from 1895 to 1900 and from then until 1906 he was a pupil at The Royal College of Art. Following this formal training, he travelled widely throughout Europe and North Africa and this is reflected in his work in which scenes of Holland, Belgium, Spain, Italy and Morocco are depicted. On his return to England, he became the Head of the Design Department at Sheffield Technical School of Art. In 1908 Walker ran the London County Council Art Department at Paddington Technical Institute and in 1911 he left to become Director of Art at Cheltenham Ladies College. He remained there until 1920 when he moved to Scarborough as Headmaster of the School of Art in 1921. Although we can find no record, it is believed that he died during the 1950s.
