Caldwell & Co., Philadelphia, circa 1907, each shallow circular with broad everted openwork border, the ground engraved with double monogram enclosing and du, flat chased and engraved with broad band of lush reeded foliate scrolls, blossoms and trelliswork, the openwork border with conforming motifs, one plate underside engraved with inscription GIVEN BY UNCLE WILLIE DU PONT TO MR. & MRS. L. DU PONT IRVING ON THEIR MARRIAGE OCT. 12-1907 and further inscribed GIVEN BY THEM TO THEIR SON & DAUGHTER MR. & MRS. WASHINGTON IRVING ON THEIR MARRIAGE NOV. 21-1946--10in. (25.4cm.) diam., 215oz.
