A QUEEN ANNE SILVER MUG, maker's mark of Eli Bilton, Newcastle, apparently 1711 (date letter slightly worn), slightly tapering cylindrical on molded rim foot, the front engraved with inscription The Gift of Geo. Cox to Tho Boniser (or Bowser), engraved with coat of arms within trelliswork and foliate strapwork surround, with applied reeded rim and reeded S scroll strap handle, base underside engraved with scratch weight 6=16--3¾in. (9.5cm.) high, 6.5oz.
