FOLK ART AND DECORATIVE OBJECTS
A WATERCOLOR AND INK ILLUSTRATED SHIP'S LOG, dated August - 12 September 1785,entitled "Remarks & Occurrances on board H.M. Hebe, the Honble. John Leveson Gower Commanding., unsigned Book Ye. IInd." 21 pages, 113 x 93 mm., neatly sewn in vellum-backed paper wrappers, upper cover labeled in ink "Hebe 1785." Written in ink in a tiny hand, illustrated with four full-page and one large folding watercolor drawings of coastal scenes, and castles from the sea, the foldout measuring 112 x 360 mm. showing a flotilla of eight fully-rigged sailing vessels, pages lightly browned at gutter margins, folding watercolor torn vertically into two sections (without signifigant loss), wrappers soiled and rubbed.

In extremely fine handwriting the diarist records mostly mundane occurances (weather, changes of sail, shipboard activities) during the Hebe's journey
