Cf. a set of six chairs at Osterley Park, perhaps originally made for one of the Gardon Buildings, with similarly canted toprail and shaped uprights but with painted decoration in the Etruscan manner (Maurice Tomlin, Catalogue of Adam Period Furniture, Victoria and Albert Museum 1982. page.147.)
