Active between 1821-1830 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, as a marine, landscape, ornamental and portrait painter, Blunt and his family moved to Boston, in the early 1830's, where the artist exhibited at the Boston Athenaeum. He died at the age of 37 while traveling on a sea voyage between New Orleans and Boston.
