A PAINTED AND DECORATED BLANKET CHEST
LANCASTER COUNTY, PENNSYVANIA, DATED 1783
The rectangular hinged top with molded edge, opening to a conforming case fitted with a till, the front with three arched panelled bays, the central bay white-painted with blue and red-painted tulips and inscribed ANNA HENSCHL/SIN, flanked by a white-painted bay with red and blue-painted stars above similarly painted tulips and scrolling vines, one inscribed 1 7, the other inscribed 8 3, the sides with iron bail handles, on a blue-painted base molding with bracket feet, replaced base molding and feet--23in. high, 49¾in. wide, 23in. deep
