FREDERICK GORDON CROSBY Brooklands Miracles 1920,
This is thought to be Harry Hawker experiencing a burst tyre while coming fast under the members' bridge in practice on the morning of the summer meeting and, although he fought the big car into the Railway Straight he could then hold it no longer. It shot clean though the corrugated iron, boundary fence at about 80 m.p.h. fortunately the damage was not extensive and although the car was not run again at Brooklands during 1920, it made fastest time at the Gaillon Hill climb in October, at 108.3 m.p.h. driven by Rene Thomas
signed, inscribed Brooklands 20/6/20,
