A Victorian Scottish vase-shaped claret jug with scrolling foliate handle, beaded rim and curved hinged cover with shell thumb-piece, on a rising circular foot engraved with acanthus leaves and with a vitruvian scroll band, the body chased, engraved and applied with acanthus leaves, flowers and foliage, fluting and swags of fruit with bow surmounts, with a geometric frieze, a vitruvian scroll frieze and a foliate frieze, with four circular cartouches, one with presentation inscription, one engraved with a crest and motto, one engraved with a monogram, the last engraved with the armorial and crest of the Edinburgh Water Company, Mackay, Cunningham & Co., Edinburgh 1869 - 14½in., 30oz.
