A Dutch Colonial Japanese black lacquer casket and hinged cover with sliding top, decorated in hiramakie, takamakie and nashiji with birds perched on flowering branches issuing from rockwork before trees and pagodas, the top similarly decorated, all with incised gilt-metal mounts, the interior of nashiji and fitted with a mirror (chipped and cracked) -- 16½in.high, 18th century.
