A Namban export lacquered wood coffer of rectangular form with hinged domed cover decorated in aogai with shaped panels of flowers and foliage within X-shaped borders and chequered bands, the sides with panels of flowering foliage, bronze carrying handle and lock fittings (old wear, chips, some inlay missing) -- 9in.wide, Momoyama period.
