Painted en camaïeu rose, the strainer with flower sprays within pierced foliate cartouches enriched in gilt, a pyramid of pierced holes below the bow-shaped handles enriched in puce, the bottom pierced with a star enclosed by three concentric bands of holes, the stand painted with similar flowers within puce line and gilt dash bands, the border with alternating flowers and birds in flight within moulded and gilt foliate cartouches, with gilt dentil rims

Lot Essay

Cheese strainers and stands were produced in two sizes as of 1753 priced at 48 livres for the 1st size and 42 livres for the second slightly smaller size.
