Of oval squat urn form, with block handles, joined by laurel swags and terminating in scrolling feathers suspending berried laurel, the neck and shoulded gilt with trellis enclosing oeil de perdrix above an oval cartouche finely painted in colours with a shepherd and shepherdess in a landscape, 'Bergere garnissant de fleurs son chappeau et berger dormant' a scene after an engraving by G. Demarteau after a painting by Boucher within gilt ciselé surround, the reverse with a loose bouquet, on a flaring oval foot with gilt lines, lacking cover, small rim chips, restored chip on shoulder

The present vase was painted after an engraving by G. Demarteau of François Boucher's painting 'Bergere garnissant de fleurs son chappeau et berger dormant'.
