A closely related canapé by Pierre Nogaret of Lyon (1718-1771), maître in 1745, is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe Siècle, 1989, p. 606. Another example by Nicholas Blanchard with very similar floral carving was sold in these Rooms, 23 May 1995, lot 185 and another canapé of this model, formerly in the collection of Mrs. Henry L. Blum, is illustrated in C. Packer, Paris Furniture, 1956, fig. 51.
