Lot Essay

The offered lot is closely related to a mirror of Provençal origin illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français, 1991, pl. 203. Although of a marked Régence form, the overall ornamental rocailles and design incorporating palm fronds points to stylistic characteristics of the Louis XV and the early Rococo periods.
