Lot Essay

The form of this lady's writing table, the top inset with a panel of Chinese lacquer on fluted columnar suports, is derived from an example by Martin Carlin, maître in 1766, in the Jones Collection, Victoria and Albert Museum (illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe Siècle, 1989, p. 159).
