AN ITALIAN GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE-MOUNTED CHERRYWOOD BREAKFRONT-BOOKCASE

With a molded triangular pediment surmounted by four marble busts of Roman dignitaries and centered by a patinated urn after the Antique, the pediment centered by the Borghese crest of a gryphon beneath a coronet above a ribbon-tied garland frieze, the central partly mirrored door with a band of ormolu stars and rosettes enclosing a blue-painted interior with shelves flanked by further glazed doors divided by columns, the central door flanked by grisaille-painted panels of urns issuing foliage and arabesques in the manner of Piranesi on a blue ground, the base with a central slide with a contemporary green leather panel embossed with the monogram 'CP' above a pair of panelled doors flanked by single doors centered by ribbon-tied garlands, on a plinth with later ebonised block feet, alterations to side moldings, formerly fitted, the marble busts 19th century, one of a later date
