Lot Essay

Pomona Toys was formed by Mary Vermyhden Wheelhouse in the 1920s. The name came from Pomona Studios in the New Kings Road, where she did her painting. The factory was in Gunter Grove, and supplied Fortnums, Liberties and Harrods, as well as the L.C.C. with Nursery School bricks, and the firm's shop in Old Church Street and later in Holland Street
