COMPARATIVE LITERATURE:

Hans Ottomeyer/Peter Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen Klinkhardt &
Biermann, Munich, Colour plate XXV and plate 4.7.10.

A Similar candelabrum, attributed to Pierre Goutière, was sold by the Parisian auctioneers, Le Brun, in a sale held on 26 November 1787.

It is possible that the distinctive design of the bases of these candelabra with garlanded caryatid supports is taken from an album of designs by Jean Demosthène Dugourc published for the Comte de Provence and Madame Elizabeth, F.J.B. Watson, Wallace Collection Catalogue, London, 1956. F. 1746 175. The drawing is reproduced in Vergoldete Bronzen, plate 4.15.6
