TORII KIYOTADA: bai-oban yoko-e (45.3 x 65.5cm.); a tan-e entitled Shin-Yoshiwara omon guchi "The Great Gate of the Yoshiwara", depicting courtesans, their patrons and attendants and a variety of street vendors at the entrance to the Yoshiwara, the buildings of the quarter in perspective behind them, signed Eshi Torii Kiyotada hitsu, engraved by Sekine Shintaro and published by Urokogataya--good impression, wear, holes restored, vertical and horizontal fold marks, backed and paper soiled and slightly darkened
