MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY), SIGNED KINKOZAN TSUKURINUSHI

Of ovoid form painted incolored enamels and gilt with a rectangular panel of ladies boating and enjoying the landscape, their robes and the boat gilded and enamelled in red and the blossoms of the iris and leaves of the distant trees also gilt, and with another rectangular panel of a lord and retainers in a retreat set in the same landscape, the ground of the vase cobalt blue applied with gilt cloud and flower reserves and foliate scroll, signed in gilt and impressed with signature Kinkozan and with a small seal with the Japanese numerals for 100/100--8¾in. (22.3cm.) high
