Of rectangular shape resting on six tapered legs, decorated on the sides of the box and the removable cover in gold hiramaki-e with bamboo and mon of the Date clan on a nashiji ground, fitted with gilt copper mounts engraved with foliate scroll, the rims of the trunk fundame lacquer, the interior lined in brocade--31½ x 20 x 20½in. (80 x 50.8 x 52cm.), old nicks, cracks and small losses
