Lot Essay

Most of the tools in this chest belonged to H or B Day; those by Moon and Stokoe had previously belonged to one J Vallinder. The account book covers the period 1871-83 for carpentry and allied work, after which the entries are for the sale of hay (1883-7) and bakery products (1896). All but the first hay entries are in a different hand, as are the bakery accounts.
