Lot Essay

The segmental cutting frame is almost certainly by J.H. Evans as he was the only maker known of this design which was intended for use in lathes not furnished with segment apparatus in headstock and for use against the side of squared work. See 'English Mechanic' Vol 73 in which Evans gives a full description of the making and use.
