A well presented and detailed 3/8in : 1ft scale exhibition standard pressure paraffin fired live steam model of the paddle steamer 'Medway Queen' of Rochester, built by R C Jackson -- 25in x 69in (63.5cm x 175.5cm).
With mast and rigging, navigation lights, aerial and deck details including anchor and windlass, cleats and bollards, ventilators, slatted seats, deck rails and companionways, open bridge with canvas wind shield, ship's wheel, binnacle and engine room telegraphs, water tank, deck lights, paddle boxes, engine room light, aft upper deck seating, lifebelts and two canvas covered ship's boats in davits and other details. The fully plated brass hull is fitted with fore and aft rudders, glazed portholes and saloon windows and varnished deck. Power plant details include brass clad brazed copper return tube boiler with fittings including water and pressure gauges, filler/safety, main stop and clack valves and main steam line to twin cylinder inclined engine built to the designs of E T Westbury, with blued steel clad cylinders 3/4in bore x 1½in stroke, hand wheel and screw operated Stephenson's link reversing, gear and eccentric driven oil pump, eccentric driven feed pump and by-pass, eccentric driven exhaust steam oil separator drain pump, the crankshaft mounted in four main bearing with split brasses and gear drive to feathering paddles. Additional equipment includes hand bilge pump, switches and motors for radio control to rudder and main stop valve. Finished in red, black and white with yellow funnel. Stand, perspex cover, spares, blower, transmitter.
