Lot Essay

Masefield was very impressed with Dulcie Bowie's readings from his works and he writes in one letter 'I am unhappy about you buying a book of mine, and feel that I owe 3/6; for I hope that since I had the pleasure and honour of hearing you I have sent you all that I have published, as an all too little tribute to such a speaker.'. The copy of 'The Klytaimnestra' was produced solely for the public reading of the work and predates the first edition of 'The Tale of Troy' by several months.
