Lot Essay

The Onomasticon of Julius Pollux (2nd century A.D.) was composed in the lifetime of the emperor Commodus; this is the first printing of the edition begun by Lederlin and completed by Hemsterhuis, with a comprehensive index compiled by Stephan Bergler. The 3rd century philosopher Porphyrius was the disciple of Plotinus. The present work is his treatise on vegetarianism which was influenced by Theophrastus.
