Erasmus edited Seneca's works in 1515, and revised the edition in 1529, professing to correct four thousand errors in former impressions. The second editor was the Hungarian humanist Matthaeus Fortunatus, who used the resources of Paduan and Venetian libraries in his reserach on Seneca to correct mistakes in the 1515 edition. Their joint work is recognised in this edition of 1540. Hegesippus's work, edited by the French humanist Lefevre d'Etaples, is based on Josephus with additions from other sources. Ascensius printed two further editions in 1512 and 1524.
