A Satsuma slender tapering oviform vase on tall spreading foot, with flaring everted neck and elephant mask ring handles, painted with a large panel of ladies, children and a dog climbing the steps of a shrine in a wooded hilly landscape, the reverse with an immortal seated on rockwork surrounded by numerous rakan and acolytes among trees and clouds, within key-pattern borders, on a dark blue ground reserved with flowerheads and scrolls, the shoulder with a band of cell-pattern (gilt slightly rubbed to rim) -- 10in.high, each panel signed Sozan, the base singed Kinkozan zo.
