interest, the majority 18th- and 19th century, some plates
hand-coloured (most laid-down on paper), 19th-century red morocco,
elaborately ruled and tooled in gilt and blind, 7 section spine, gilt
inner dentelles, watered silk doublures (extremities rubbed), g.e.

Lot Essay

The portraits are of Irish nobles, authors, playwrights, divines, actors etc., as well as various people with Irish connections, such as Jonathan Swift, Edmund Burke, the Duke and Duchess of Leinster, Henry Cromwell, and include hand-coloured lithographs of Robert Emmet and Charles Parnell.
